Accepted Our Offer

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

We made an offer earlier this week, and much to our surpprise they accepted it offhand without countering on the price. We have only a few more days to close, making this a tiring week and then we take possession of the house in 2 weeks.

Shopping for a New House

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

This week Jenn and I were surprised to find out the bank pre-approved us for a 100% financing mortgage, despite Jenn being on EI for the last couple of months TD bank was willing to work with her income and provided us with a $180k pre-approval, where oddly our mortgage broker was not.

So we have spent our weekend searching the HRM for some new place to call home. We’ve been out most of this weekend and after seeing perhaps 30 homes we have narrowed our search down to two homes, one of particular interest in the Leblin Park area.

I think tomorrow we will make our decision as to whether or not we place an offer.

Either way the experience has been overwhelming and exhausting. It seems every time we speak with someone we learn something new about the whole process, closing costs alone could prove to be a problem. We may not have a choice but to wait until November to place an offer due to these costs.
